Hailed as America's first "modern" drama, Margaret Fleming presents an American heroine with a dilemma worthy of Ibsen. To the devoted and comme il faut wife of a small city mill owner, the living proof of her husband's infidelity is a shock that she may not overcome.  Her response was scandalous to an 1890 audience, and a bold declaration of independence that is electrifying today.
