Closest
F Train to  2nd Avenue

The Playhouse is most easily reached from the "Second Avenue " Stop on the F Line.
The closest exit to us, at the Brooklyn end of the stop, puts you on First Avenue and Houston.
Walk North on First Avenue to E 4th Street and turn right.
Walk East on E 4th Street until you reach us.
Close

N TrainR TrainW Train  to 8th Street

The N, R, or W trains to "8th Street" (the NYU stop) let out at Broadway and 8th Street.
Walk East on 8th Street, across Astor Place, where the street becomes St Mark's Place.
Continue to Thompkins Square Park, where you
turn right on Avenue A.
When you reach E 4th Street, take a left to get to our door.

6 Train  to Bleecker Street

You can also take the 6 train to Bleecker Street Station, and walk East on Second Street to Avenue A, then north, to E 4th Street, and then right to us.

By Bus

The Playhouse is served directly by:
M15 (Up First Avenue; Down 2nd Avenue)
M14A (Crosses Manhattan on 14th Street and then turns to go down Avenue A)
M9 (Up and down Avenue B).

 Parking

Parking is available on the streets around the theater; however, street parking may be very hard to find on weekend nights.
There is a guarded lot on Avenue A (which becomes Essex Street) just south of Houston--three blocks from the theater--as well as a garage on Essex near Delancey (about six blocks south.)

Other lots are available on Bowery Street, three blocks west of the theater.

The East Village is exploding with restaurants, bars, boutiques and theater.  So come down for more than just an evening of theater, call one of our restaurant partners for a dinner reservation before or after a performance at Metropolitan.  They are all a close walk from the theater, and there is dining available for every taste.
