Opportunities

Volunteer

Metropolitan survives on the strength of its volunteer corps.  It is a great way to get involved, from the "inside". Amiable people, laughter and new friends are some of the most obvious benefits.
It is also tremendously satisfying when the lights go up, to know that you've been a part of making it happen.
If you're interested in joining us, join our volunteer e-mail list.  You can simply join the list, or let us know of your particular talents and interests in the body of the e-mail.

Actors
Metropolitan does not maintain a corps of actors; however, many performers return to the Playhouse within each season and over the course of our seasons, and we are devoted to maintaining the growth of this ensemble.

Designers

The Playhouse engages a new design team for each project.
We encourage resumes from costumers, lighting, and set designers for our mainstage Season. There is some pay for all positions.
Please send resume and a photo page to Artistic Director, Metropolitan Playhouse, 220 E. 4th St., NYC 10009.

 Playwrights

Metropolitan accepts general submissions throughout the year with priority given to new scripts that take into consideration Metropolitan's mission, history, goals, and, if available, the coming season's theme.  While we love to receive new works for review, due to the focused nature of our repertoire and the pressures of planning seasons at least a year in advance, general submissions cannot often be considered for immediate production.  All scripts are read for their conherance with Metropolitan's work, their producability, the immediacy of the issues raised, or the new light they cast upon American concerns.

To submit scripts, send a synopsis and 10 to 12 page sample to Kimberly Wadsworth,  Metropolitan Playhouse, 220 E. 4th St., NYC 10009.   All submissions must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with adequate postage.  We regretfully cannot return any materials that do not come with a SASE.
